Perhaps even Graham Bell wouldn’t have been able to fully comprehend the advantages that his invention has brought to us. Advancement in research has led to the development of technologies which have revolutionized our way of life. Telephone led to the concept of telecommunication, which encompasses the transmission of both voice and data over long distances. However, the usefulness of telecommunication was further enhanced when electromagnetic waves were used as a medium of transmission (Faigen, Fridman & Emmett, 2001). By removing the restriction of wires, telecommunication not only enhanced the capabilities of commerce and industry, it has also found uses in health services (Chevrollier & Golmie, 2007) as well as security. The scope of this paper is to describe the various uses of wireless communication and how it benefits it users.
Uses within Commerce and Industry
The use of wireless networks has made a major impact in the working and performance of businesses belonging to commerce and industry. The wireless technology has made the internet more readily available to businesses by making it possible for Internet providers to deploy their network more quickly. In the business environment as well, the use of Wireless Local Area Networks has made it possible for employees to access information regardless of their location. That means availability of information on mobile devices such as PDA and Laptops (Faigen, Fridman & Emmett, 2001) which adds efficiency to the work of employees. It also cost less for businesses to employ wireless technology and it creates much less clutter. An obvious implementation of wireless network is mobile phone networks. The presence of mobile phone has made it possible for businesses to contact their employees whenever possible and has also made them location independent, improving the communication between different parts of businesses, which ultimately contribute to improvement in business performance. The use of RFID technologies, has also enhanced the employee and attendance tracking ability of the businesses(Brown, 2006)………………………………………………………… To try out the services offered by TermPapersTree, please visit our order page
